about

"Every Little Once in a While" is the second of the two song suite addressing father and mother issues. This, the mother song of the two, seeks to reconcile a troubled lifetime relationship through admissions of the good and bad along the way.

lyrics

EVERY LITTLE ONCE IN A WHILE

Through the darkness, I passed through you and came into this world.
You gave me my voice to sing out, now listen, my soul is stirred.

You gave me these crazy feelings, they go down deep as the sea.
But you showed me how to take the sadness and turn it into some beauty.

ch. I’m looking down that road again, I can see for miles and miles
I know that’s you when that song comes on as I roll on down the
line
So just let me know that you’re still out there -- every little once in a
while.

I watched you speeding toward me, I reached out, but you went racing by.
You turned me into the father, and you became the child.

ch.

Then one night a dream came to me, I was five and you were still young and wild.
You spun me around and ‘round and ‘round and ‘round…underneath a diamond sky.
Then I watched you dance into the light.

ch. I’m looking down that road again, I can see for miles and miles
Every time that song comes on, it just tears me up inside
So just let me know that you’re still out there -- every little once in a
while.
Every little once in a while…
